Buffalo Sabres Could Pursue Star Winger

If there is one team that got better overall, it is the Atlantic Division. Teams such as the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings, and Florida Panthers sent shock waves through the league. One team that will aim to be competitive based on how they finished last season was the Buffalo Sabres. They may not have made the big splash in free agency this season, but they are expected to go next season. Patrick Kane will hit free agency, and the Buffalo Sabres are rumoured to pursue him.

Patrick Kane Future Team Could Be the Sabres

Rumour: Andrew Peters discusses the Sabres pursuing Patrick Kane as a free agent.

This would be fun. Patrick Kane was born in Buffalo, New York. As a free agent, he could return to his hometown and play for the city he was born in. A young Buffalo team could use a high calibre talent such as Patrick Kane.

The Sabres aren’t trading for Patrick Kane.

I was told they’ll want to sign him as UFA next summer.

No assets needed.

Why The Sabres Should Sign Kane In Free Agency

Patrick Kane hitting free agency would be the jackpot for the Buffalo Sabres. While it may not win them a Stanley Cup, it would certainly push the club in that direction. What Kevyn Adams is doing with this Sabres team is nice. The Jack Eichel saga is over and done with and the team ended the season on a high note, finishing with an 8-6 record. They named Kyle Okposo the captain and have a core in place. Alex Tuch is a native who enjoys being a Sabre and young guns in Owen Power, Dylan Cozens, Rasmus Dahlin, and Tage Thompson are just a few names to form the core.

Patrick Kane is a three-time Stanley Cup Champion. His veteran presence and winning pedigree would be an impact on the lineup. Patrick Kane has scored 40 goals twice, and 30 goals three times. He is a slick passer and his blend of speed and skill makes him an offensive juggernaut. In 1,107 games played, he has scored 430 goals, 750 assists, and 1,180 points. Well over a PPG player, he is worth any penny.

Patrick Kane Season Stats

Patrick Kane is still playing at a high level.  In 78 games played, he scored 26 goals, 66 assists, and 92 points. He managed 31 points on the power play. On a weak Chicago Blackhawks team, he still produced at a high level and had a lot of good hockey left in the tank. According to Evolving hockey, this chart demonstrates the level of play he displays. Kane is still an elite winger and would be a welcomed addition to the Buffalo Sabres.

Patrick Kane picked up a helper against the Blue Jackets for his 14th point (4G, 10A) against that club this season.

His 46 career assists and 69 points against Columbus are his most against any @NHL opponent. #ThatsHockeyBaby pic.twitter.com/7hnDzPpLtp
