Pro Football Focus released a way-too-early 2023 NFL draft mock and the best part has nothing to do with the player taken.
In it, PFF uses the latest Super Bowl odds to pick the order. In doing so, the Buffalo Bills select 32nd in the first round.
That’s where the Super Bowl champion traditionally selects. What a ride that would be.
Back to the actual draft, the Bills address their offensive line. The football analytics outlet sends Buffalo offensive lineman Paris Johnson from Ohio State.
Here’s the breakdown:
32. BUFFALO BILLS: OT PARIS JOHNSON, OHIO STATE
Johnson will be Ohio State’s left tackle this season after starting at right guard in 2020. That’s the position where the 6-foot-6, 315-pounder is a more natural fit. He earned a 79.1 overall grade as a redshirt freshman in his first year as a starter in 2021.
With few holes on their roster, offensive line is a position one could easily see the Bills addressing in a year from now at the draft.
Currently Buffalo has Rodger Saffold, Ryan Bates and Ike Boettger as the most-likely candidates to start at guard in 2022. They will fight over two starting spots.
Bates is the only one of the three signed long term as of now. That could change, but there’s a bit of a need on the O-line projecting forward to 2023.
Naturally, a ton has to play out on the field as well. A 2023 mock draft at this time is truly just a shot in the dark.
