Bills' Josh Allen named candidate for 'Madden 23' cover

May 31, 2022 by Bills Wire Leave a Comment

If Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen can still take his football stardom up another level, “Madden 23” might be the way and he was named a suggestion for exactly that.

NFL.com listed five candidates from the league to be the cover stars for the upcoming edition of the video game. Allen slid right into the middle of that ranking at No. 3.

Here’s the breakdown:

If the game makers are looking to forecast the 2022 league MVP, they could easily cast their lot with the Bills’ franchise quarterback, given his potential to put up ridiculous numbers while leading his team to the promised land. Allen has joined the ranks of the elite at the game’s most important position; in fact, a five-star season could put him in play to wear the crown as the NFL’s new QB1. Considering how the football world adores blue-chip quarterbacks, Allen’s emergence as a dual-threat superstar could make him the perfect cover selection.

Allen will be much more concerned with getting the Bills to where he wants on the field, but the Madden cover is an honor only a handful of players have ever gotten in NFL history. It would be pretty cool.

If Allen did earn that, he would be the first Buffalo player to end up on the game’s cover. However, some might be concerned with the “curse” that is associated with being on the cover.

Thankfully, that seems to be in the past–but some in Buffalo might feel it’s better to be safe than sorry in that regard…

Along with Allen, the other four players listed were:

  • 5. Buccaneers QB Tom Brady
  • 4. Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs
  • 2. Steelers DE TJ Watt
  • 1. Rams WR Cooper Kupp

The announcement for the cover will be made in June.
