The Syracuse Orange spring football practice is over, portal season is heating up, but other Syracuse athletes have been competing in their respective Olympic sports. Let’s check in on how all our Orange teams did in the past week.
Syracuse Softball (21-20, 5-13)
The Orange dropped two of three on the road against Pittsburgh last weekend. After dropping the opener 8-3, Syracuse rebounded to take a 12-3 win behind homers from Vanessa Flores, Madison Knight and Rebecca Clyde.

Pitt took the finale 7-5 and now Syracuse will look to rebound as they host LeMoyne and Virginia Tech this week.
Outfielder Angel Jasso leads the Orange with a .388 batting average and she’s leading the ACC with seven triples on the season.
Syracuse Tennis (10-11, 4-9)
The Orange season came to an end with a 4-1 defeast against Notre Dame in the ACC Championships. Polina Kozyreva earned the lone Syracuse point with a win at #5 singles. The doubles team of Miyuka Kimoto and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya won the #1 singles slot.

Syracuse Track and Field
The Orange were in action at multiple meets last weekend. Freshman Benne Anderson continues to excel in his first year as he took the win in the 1500m at the Virginia Challenge with a time of 3:40. Another winner for Syracuse was Paul O’Donnell in the 10000m with a time of 28:39.11.
For the women, Savannah Roark was a section winner in the 1500m in a time of 4:22. Madison Neuner took 2nd in the 3000m steeple (10:07) and Ellie Lawler was 6th in the 5000m (16:01).
At Albany, the Orange men were led by Trei Thorogood’s 2nd place finish in the 100m and a quartet of hurdlers who finished 2-5 in the 110m hurdles. Emmanuel Joseph was 2nd followed by Naseem Smith, Anthony Vasquez and Isaiah Lewis. Taleea Buxton’s 2nd place finish in the 100m hurdles was the top performance for the women in Albany.
Syracuse has the Penn Relays this week and then onto it’s the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Syracuse Rowing
#7 ranked Syracuse men’s rowing held their first home race in a while and the Orange retained The Goes Trophy over Navy and Cornell. With a sweep of the V8, 2V8, and 3V8, Syracuse also captured The Stagg Trophy. Syracuse will compete this weekend against Dartmouth, Boston University and Georgetown.
The #8-ranked women’s team had last weekend off, but they travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Lake Wheeler Invite on April 26-27. Off the water, Charlotte Ebel was named a Syracuse University Remembrance Scholar for 2024-25. Ebel is one of 35 students selected to honor those who Syracuse students who lost their lives in the Pan Am 103 bombing.
