Recent history tells us that experts’ mock predictions won’t be who the Buffalo Bills select
This Thursday evening, the 2024 NFL Draft finally kicks off. All those weeks of seemingly endless mock drafts will be put to the test to see who was right and who was wrong.
The Buffalo Bills are scheduled to pick 28th overall in Round 1, and the consensus from mocks is that Buffalo will be picking a wide receiver. That’s especially the case now that wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been traded to the Houston Texans.
The most popular names linked to the Bills this year are Brian Thomas Jr. and Adonai Mitchell. However, history shows us that who the experts predict to go to Buffalo rarely end up being the actual pick.
There are a few well-known names people pay attention to when doing their research on mock drafts. From NFL.com, people pay attention to Daniel Jeremiah and Peter Schrager. Over at ESPN there’s Mel Kiper, and of course now-former ESPN analyst Todd McShay.
Going back to 2017 when Sean McDermott took over as head coach, these four analysts have combined for just three correct guesses in their final mock before the NFL Draft. Jeremiah, McShay, and Schrager all had Buffalo selecting Josh Allen with their first selection, but no one had the team also grabbing Tremaine Edmunds.
Since then, only one of them have correctly predicted who the Bills were going to select in the first round. That was when Kiper predicted the Bills to grab cornerback Kaiir Elam in the first round. This isn’t good news for all those Brian Thomas Jr. lovers in Bills Mafia. See all of their predictions below.
