St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Jets Game 7 Without One Jet Star

May 5, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

NHL predictions

As the Winnipeg Jets and the St. Louis Blues gear up for Game 7 of their first-round 2025 Western Conference NHL Stanley Cup Playoff series, Jets head coach Scott Arniel is the bearer of bad news. It seems the injury that kept centre Mark Scheifele out of Game 6, is serious enough to keep him out again. Scheifele will miss Game 7 of the Jets and Blues series tonight. How will this impact things for the Jets?

Mark Scheifele Injury to Keep Him Out of Jets and Blues Playoff Game 7 Tonight

Luckily for Winnipeg, they had an opportunity to try things out in Game 6. Unfortunately, they lost that game in St. Louis, Missouri. Arniel and his team are hoping they’ll have a better plan and sharper execution at home tonight.

Scheifele is one of the offensive leaders on his Jets side. From the regular season, his 39 goals and 87 points were each second on the team to Kyle Connor. Meanwhile, his 48 assists were tied for second with Josh Morrissey, again, following up Connor. Scheifele is a big part of the Jets complete game, and Arniel will need to make the correct adjustments. So, just what might he have in store.

Who Needs to Step Up for Scheifele and Arniel?

Fortunately, amidst the Mark Scheifele injury, the Jets do have some solid options to play around with their top-nine forwards. Gabriel Vilardi and Vladislav Namestnikov are the two most likely centres to fill in with Connor and Alex Iafallo. They do have the offensive players there to fill the void when injuries do pop up. Also, they are really hoping for a bounce back from their decorated goaltender. Connor Hellebuyck has looked nothing like the usual Vezina Trophy-calibre netminder he is in the regular season. However, one big Game 7, could put all those naysayers to rest. In any case, without Scheifele he will more than have to earn his keep. Game 7 goes tonight, 6:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT), live from the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
