BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Sabres organization will celebrate better days from a score ago with a 2005-06 season reunion for its Jan. 15 game against the Montreal Canadiens at KeyBank Center.
Sabres alumni will take part in a pregame ceremony and attending fans will receive a themed pennant at the Thursday night game for which Buffalo will wear its retro “goat head” uniforms. The promotion precedes Sabres Hall of Fame goaltender Ryan Miller’s annual Catwalk for Charity event on Jan. 16.
The 05-06 Sabres coached by Lindy Ruff surprised many with a 110 point season that culminated in the Eastern Conference finals. It also was the last season the Sabres sported their black, red and silver jerseys full time.
Among seven Throwback Thursday promotions on Buffalo’s schedule, each will feature a pennant giveaway, pregame happy hour with beer discounted to $7.16, Doug Allen performing the national anthem, in-game entertainment with a 2000s theme, along with the Sabres wearing throwback sweaters.
The first Throwback Thursday game is Nov. 6 vs. the St. Louis Blues. The others are Dec. 18 against the Philadelphia Flyers, Jan. 29 against the Los Angeles Kings, Feb. 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, March 12 against the Washington Capitals, and April 9 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
