Flashy freshmen versus dominant defense. Here we go…

Our window to bet on basketball is waning with every minute that passes. After two games today we’re down to one game remaining this tournament. So we have to get while the getting is good. Today’s Final Four matchups will give us our national championship matchup and which top seeds will duke it out for the title. The conversation about the Final Four so far has been that it’s all chalk and the tournament as a whole has been less than its usual nail biter exciting self. But here we are at the end with arguably the four best teams not just by seed but also by performance through the year. Great teams playing other great teams can yield some pretty phenomenal games. Let’s hope that holds with our double header today to decide who remains for Monday’s championship tilt.

Your breakdown of the late Final Four matchup:

Houston Cougars vs Duke Blue Devils

Tip Time: 8:49PM
Location: Alamodome, San Antonio, TX
Television: CBS

Storylines:

  • Coaching experience may play a factor on such a big stage. Duke’s coach Jon Scheyer makes his debut with freshman sensation Cooper Flagg leading the charge. How Scheyer’s squad handles the pressure could be crucial. Houston on the other hand is familiar with these outings with a veteran team and a legendary coach in Kelvin Sampson. Experience in pressure situations makes a difference.
  • Will Houston’s defense be able to be themselves? They’re ranked No. 1 in defense, making them a tough opponent. The question is, can they withstand Duke’s size and scoring ability?
  • Duke’s bigger guards against Houston’s smaller but gritty backcourt will drive the outcome of this game. Will Houston’s defense be able to limit Duke’s shot-making? If they do then Houston has a great chance. If Duke’s guards have a big night it’s the Dukies moving on.

Belt Bets:

Line: Duke -3.5
O/U: Over 135.5
Prop of the Game: Cooper Flagg (DUKE) over 16.5 points

Per usual don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose. Entertainment purposes only. Yadda yadda yadda.
