Michigan’s blowout loss to Wisconsin this past weekend was yet another letdown in a big game for head coach Jim Harbaugh. With so many losses in big games, there has been rampant speculation that Harbaugh could be fired.
According to SportsBetting.ag via ESPN’s David Hale, odds on the next Michigan head coach have already been released. Seven coaches separated themselves from the crowd.
The leading candidate right now is Virginia head coach Bronco Mendenhall, who has worked wonders on the Cavaliers. He currently has +300 odds of getting the job.
Coming in second is someone Harbaugh should have a lot of familiarity with: Stanford head coach David Shaw. When Harbaugh left Stanford to take the 49ers job in 2011, Shaw – his longtime assistant – replaced him there. Shaw has been given +350 odds.
Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham came in third at +400, followed by Syracuse’s Dino Babers at +500.
Urban Meyer, should he choose to unretire, has +700 odds, as does Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy.
Finally, Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell was given +800 odds.

Michigan should be able to stroll to an easy victory over Rutgers this weekend, but there are plenty of tough games left on their schedule.
Iowa, Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State will all be eager to take advantage of Michigan’s vulnerability.
These odds could certainly change dramatically depending on how Michigan does against those big teams.
