Can the Orange defend their title?

The Syracuse Orange Women’s Rowing squad looks to defend their ACC title this weekend. The 2025 ACC Rowing Championships take place on Friday May 16 and Saturday May 17 at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina.

Entering the postseason, Syracuse is ranked 11, according to the latest Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Coaches Poll. Other ranked ACC opponents include Stanford University (1), University of California, Berkeley (9), University of Virginia (13), Duke University (18), Clemson University (22) and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (24).

Racing begins on Friday at 8:05 a.m. ET with the Third Varsity Eight, with the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four coming afterwards. Each event has two heats and results can be followed here

Syracuse has been dubbed the three seed in all five events following a vote by the conference’s head coaches. The Orange will face formidable opponents like the one-seeded Stanford and two-seeded Cal; two of the newest additions to the ACC.

Grand and Petite Finals will be raced on Saturday, kicking off with the Third Varsity Eight beginning at 8:05 a.m. and finishing with the Varsity Eight at 9:55 a.m.

Last spring, the Orange beat Virginia in a tie-breaking Varsity Eight race with an ACC Championship-record time of 6:09.814 to claim the conference title. As a result, the Syracuse Varsity Eight was named ACC Crew of the Year.
