The freshman is the 1st Orange runner to go sub 4 indoor and outdoors in the same year
Syracuse Orange freshman Benne Anderson entered college with a lot of hype surrounding his talents.
After a redshirt cross-country season, Anderson has shown his promise on the track for Syracuse. Last Friday in Providence, he won the mile in a time of 3:58.81, becoming the first Orange runner under 4 minutes outdoors. Yes, it’s a distance that isn’t raced all that often in college, but that doesn’t diminish Anderson going sub-4 this early in the season.
At the Providence meet, Isaiah Lewis and Emmanuel Joseph were 1-2 in the 110m hurdles and Julian Franjieh took 3rd in the 3000m steeplechase. For the Syracuse women, CJ Fox and Olivia Etienvre were 2nd and 3rd in the 100m hurdles, while Olivia Garner (100m) and Shayla Ford (200m) had 3rd-place finishes.
More Orange competed at the Tom Jones Invitational hosted by the Florida Gators. Shaleah Colaire was 5th in the 400m hurdles and Taleea Buxton took 12th in the 100m hurdles. For the men, Naheem Hayles was 3rd in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.38, which puts him in the top five in the country this season. Elijah Millard took 3rd in the 400m hurdles and 7th in the open 400m.
The Orange are back in action this weekend at Wake Forest and Albany.
