Marissa Saunders set a new facility record at the Utica Blue and Orange Invitational Saturday, while two of her teammates set new personal bests at the Harvard Crimson Elite Friday.

Saunders, a sophomore, clocked in at 8.92 in the women’s 60-meter hurdles final, giving her a comfortable event win of more than two-tenths of a second. Her 8.90 time in the event’s qualifying round was a personal record and facility record. In the qualifier, teammates Madison Ceasar and Kirstyn Schechter ran 8.91 and 9.52, respectively.

Other notable showings in Utica included freshman Isaiah Hayes coming in second with an 8.22 time in the men’s 60-meter hurdles. Meanwhile, senior Olivia Garner took second in the women’s 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.73 seconds. Senior Caroline Kirby was the runner-up in the women’s mile, finishing at 5:08.29.

At the Harvard Crimson Elite, sophomore Taleea Buxton fell 0.04 seconds short of her third event win of the season, finishing second in the women’s 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.47.

Kitana Burgard, a junior sprinter, turned in a time of 7.49 seconds in the women’s 60-meter dash, earning her third.

For the men, senior Emanuel Joseph set a new personal best in the men’s 60-meter hurdles qualifiers, running a 7.82. He then clocked a time of 7.87, good enough for third in the final. Junior Isaiah Lewis finished fifth with a time of 7.95, also a new personal best.

Jaheem Hayles, a Syracuse alum and four-time All-American, ran unaffiliated and won the event in 7.76 seconds.

The Orange will compete in Boston next weekend at Boston College’s Eagle Invite, as well as the David Hemrey Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
