Some Orange football players take to the track

The Syracuse Orange athletics season is in full swing so we are back with these weekly recaps as we look to keep you updated on the Olympic sports.

Softball (19-11, 1-8)

Syracuse has had a rough start to the ACC portion of their schedule. The Orange did get one win over #16 Duke, but they will have to do some work to get back towards .500 in the league.

The Orange host LeMoyne on Wednesday and then North Carolina comes to town over the weekend.

W. Rowing

#10 Syracuse opened the 2025 season at the B1G/ACC/Ivy dual. The Orange V8 boat was third behind Michigan and Penn in the morning, but came back to defeat Ohio State in the afternoon.

The 2V8 boat won both races last weekend as the Orange will head down to Saratoga Springs this weekend to race Cornell and Yale for the Cayuga Cup.

Tennis (8-7, 1-7)

Syracuse has lost four straight matches- all on the road against ranked ACC opponents.

The Orange will be back home hosting Virginia Tech and Virginia this weekend.

Track and Field

At the NCAA Indoor Championships, Benne Anderson finished 9th in the mile with a time of 3:57.

Syracuse opened up the outdoor season last weekend and saw one school record fall right away. Transfer Iaunia Porter broke the 200m record with a time of 23.28 at the USF Invitational, which earned a 2nd place finish.

For the men, Xavyion Perkins was 5th in the 400m hurdles while three Orange football players made their track debuts. The 4×100 team of James Nmah, Darrell Gill Jr, Malachi Coleman and Malachi James finished 8th.

In the 100m dash, James was 29th in 10.65, which is a top 10 time in the ACC early in the season. We’ll see if these players are back on the track after the spring football season ends.
