The Orange grabbed one of the last at-large spots in this year’s tournament, and look who we’ve got here…
The Syracuse Orange men’s lacrosse team had a roller coaster of a 2021 regular season that saw way more valleys than peaks.
But despite all the turbulence, John Desko and the Orange found their way into the NCAA Tournament as one of the final at-large teams selected.
On Sunday night’s NCAA Selection Show, Syracuse got an unseeded draw, and are matched up with the No. 5 seeded Georgetown Hoyas in the first round.
Apparently we’ve got some basketball fans on the lacrosse selection committee…
The game will be this coming Saturday, May 15 at 7:30 PM on ESPN U.
Second season starts now.

Georgetown went 12-2 this year on their way to winning the Big East tournament title and co-winning the regular season title with Denver. They are are strong defensive team led by goalie Owen McElroy and defender Gibson Smith. Offensively, attacker Jake Carraway is one of the best goal scorers in the country.
We should have quite the battle on our hands Saturday night.
The NCAA tournament will begin next weekend with the first round on May 15-16, and the quarterfinals to follow on May 22-23. Final Four weekend will conclude the season, as it always does, on Memorial Day weekend, May 29 & 31.
This is the 13th straight year that the Orange have made the tournament, going back to 2007, but they’re looking to end their championship drought (2009), their Final Four drought (2013), and their tournament win drought (2017).
Step one will be pick up a win vs. the Hoyas.
