Syracuse looks to add more defensive help
As the Syracuse Orange look to build a NCAA Tournament roster, Adrian Autry and staff hosted Monmouth transfer Jaret Valencia for a campus visit.
The 6’9” Valencia played two years for Monmouth and last season averaged 6.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. In his freshman year, Valencia was named to the All-CAA Freshman and All-CAA Defensive teams after he averaged 8.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.
At Monmouth, Valencia shot 38% from 3, but only averaged 1.5 attempts per game from beyond the arc. For the Orange, Valencia would provide another athletic frontcourt player with an ability to protect the rim. If he was able to maintain that level of shooting on increased attempts, Valencia could space the floor on offense and allow more room for the Syracuse perimeter players to attack the paint.
We’ll see if Adrian Autry can get a commitment from the Colombia native, but until then take a look at Jaret in action.
