Syracuse Orange men’s basketball has reached out to Robert Morris transfer Amarion Dickerson, the Horizon League’s Defensive Player of the Year, according to a report by Adam Borst of Pittsburgh Sports Now.

Former Robert Morris forward Amarion Dickerson has been in contact with the following programs since entering the transfer portal, per sources.

Louisville
NC State

Dickerson played his first two seasons of college basketball at Mineral Area College, a JUCO program, before Andy Toole’s RMU identified him as a contributor for the Colonials. In year one with Robert Morris, Dickerson shined alongside Horizon League Player of the Year Alvaro Folgueiras — who is also currently in the transfer portal, but no report has linked SU to him — in one of the nation’s most dynamic mid-major frontcourt on both ends.

The 6 foot 7 forward averaged 13.3 points and 5.9 rebounds to go along with 2.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per contest. His 8.3% block rate ranked third in the Horizon League, and his 122.3 offensive rating ranked eighth.

He led Robert Morris to arguably its best season in program history, with 26 wins, a regular season conference championship, a conference tournament championship, and pushing No. 2 seed Alabama to the brink in the NCAA Tournament. Dickerson had a game-high 25 points in that game before fouling out in the waning moments once Alabama had begun to pull away.

Dickerson made a significant impact on the RMU defense, with that unit being 6.9 points per 100 possessions (adjusted for schedule) better with him on the floor, without a notable offensive drop-off. Opposing teams shot just 53.3 at the rim with Dickerson on the floor. Meanwhile, Dickerson himself shot a remarkable 70.7% at the rim, and an even better 71.2% in the half court.

His versatility and athleticism at 6 foot 7 makes him a viable offensive contributor, but obviously, the defense is the huge draw for him, and the reason why so many high-major programs are excited about what he can bring to the table. He’s also shown the ability to stretch the floor.

Robert Morris 6’7 Junior Amarion Dickerson had a great game against 2 seeded Alabama despite the loss. He finished with

25 Points
9 Rebounds
3 Steals
2 Blocks
50% FG

Was a huge reason why his team kept it close all game. pic.twitter.com/7k7A1c1xdB

However, with Syracuse’s forward situation being held up by the 5-star duo of Donnie Freeman and freshman Sadiq White, who knows how much of a role Dickerson would be able to play, but he would make his minutes count, as he always does.
