The Hall of Famer will make his debut this fall.
A Syracuse Orange men’s basketball legend, long-time NBA All-Star and now Hall of Fame member is headed to the studio desk at NBC Sports.
Carmelo Anthony will be a part of NBC Sports’ NBA coverage. The announcement came during the Kentucky Derby this past weekend that Anthony will serve as a studio analyst when the NBA returns to NBC.
Anthony joins NBC Sports after the network signed a new media rights deal with the NBA last fall. NBC Sports also says Anthony is expected to be in studio for “one or more nights per week through the playoffs.”
As part of the tv package, NBC will reportedly air 100 games per season. It will broadcast the league’s game on the network’s streaming service, Peacock, on Monday nights and on NBC on Tuesdays.
That also means ‘Melo gets to be a part of the network with arguably the best NBA theme song ever:

“Watching the NBA on NBC growing up shaped my love for the game,” Anthony said in the release. “Now, I’m thrilled to join the NBC Sports family. I’ve always used my platform to help grow the game, and I’m excited to bring fans a fresh perspective as we usher in a new era of NBA coverage and programming.”
Anthony produced one of the best one-and-one seasons in college basketball history and guided Syracuse to its only championship-winning team in 2003. After being drafted third overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, he would end up playing 19 seasons in the league.
By the time his career came to an end, ‘Melo finished with 10 All-Star appearances, six All-NBA nods and a spot on the league’s 75th Anniversary Team. Anthony also carved out a decorated career with Team USA, earning three gold medals and one bronze. He currently sits 10th all-time in total points scored in NBA history.
That decorated basketball career at each of those three levels led to him most recently being named a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Anthony will make his on-air debut with the network on Peacock in October.
