Sadiq White will tryout for Team USA’s U19 team.
Incoming Syracuse Orange men’s basketball freshman Sadiq White has been invited to tryout for Team USA’s Under-19 team. White, one of 33 members invited to the tryout, will report to training camp in Colorado Springs beginning June 14. The roster will be trimmed to 12 players before the team departs for the FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland.
The tryout will consist of seven college players, 13 from the class of 2025 and 13 from the class of 2026. Syracuse has two offers to class of 2026 members participating in the tryout in Jordan Smith Jr. and Deron Rippey Jr.
The 2025 USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team will be coached by Arizona’s Tommy Lloyd. Grant McCasland (Texas Tech University) and Micah Shrewsberry (University of Notre Dame) will be assistants. North Carolina’s Hubert Davis, Alabama’s Nate Oats and Kentucky’s Mark Pope will serve as support coaches during training camp.
The Americans were drawn into Group D at the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup and will square off against Australia, France and Cameroon. The U.S. holds a 4-2 record all-time against Australia in U19 action. The USA are winners of six straight against the French, carrying a 6-1 series advantage. The U.S. and Cameroon will face for the first time.
The inaugural event was held in 1979 and until 2007 it was held every four years. Since 2007, the tournament is held biannually. The U.S. has won the gold medal eight times, most recently in 2021.
White committed to Syracuse last May. The 6-foot-8 forward headlines Syracuse’s incoming class as the No. 26 ranked recruit by 24/7, No. 27 by ESPN and No. 31 by On3. He’s one of four incoming first year players along with Kiyan Anthony, Luke Fennell and Aaron Womack.
