It could be a busy weekend for Syracuse fans
The 2025 NFL Draft is here and while we don’t expect any Syracuse Orange players to be selected in tonight’s first round, the rest of the weekend should be busy.
It’s a safe assumption that at least four Syracuse players will hear their names called in Green Bay over the next few days. That would mark the most draft selections since the 2006 draft when Anthony Smith (3rd), Quinn Ojinnaka (5th), James Wyche (7th) and Ryan LaCasse (7th) were all picked.

Most NFL Draft experts anticipate Kyle McCord, Oronde Gadsden, LeQuint Allen and Fadil Diggs will be selected. If Alijah Clark, Justin Barron, Jackson Meeks or Marlowe Wax find their way in, then it’ll be the most Orange selections since 1998?
Will this be a one-year blip or the return to the days when Syracuse was producing NFL talent? It’s hard to look too far ahead in today’s transfer portal era but as Fran Brown continues to add better recruits, and his staff earns more credit for development, it’s not hard to see the Orange becoming a destination for more NFL scouts.
Three current Syracuse players- Demetres Samuel, Emmanuel Ross and Jamie Tremble rank in the top 10 on 247’s all-time recruit rankings. The 2026 class currently ranks 11th in the country. Recruit rankings don’t guarantee pro prospects, but an uptick in talent and success on the field could make the NFL Draft a bit more interesting for Syracuse fans.
