Looks official now
The Syracuse Orange is expected to receive a commitment from Notre Dame quarterback transfer Steve Angeli per 247 Sports.
Ex-Notre Dame QB Steve Angeli is in fact set to transfer to Syracuse, sources tell me, @McAllisterMike1 and @chris_hummer.
Syracuse, which led the nation in passing last year with Kyle McCord, now set to add one of the top spring free agent QBs.https://t.co/OaVFzlxp0C https://t.co/cZ4inJpH5l pic.twitter.com/r7vSCCKPeg

Angeli played in 21 games for the Irish. He started one game, which was the 2023 Sun Bowl after Sam Hartman opted out to prepare for the NFL draft. Angeli led the Fighting Irish to a 40-8 win in that game over Oregon State. He threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns.
Angeli was the primary backup to Riley Leonard last season. Angeli most notably played in the final minutes of the first half against Penn State in the CFP quarterfinals at the Orange Bowl after Leonard was injured. Angeli threw for 44 yards on 6-of-7 passing before Leonard returned for the second half. Angeli threw for 722 yards and 10 touchdowns in his Notre Dame career.
Out of high school, Angeli chose Notre Dame over a host of offers, including Michigan, Miami, LSU and Syracuse. He was a 4-star in the 247 composite rankings and was the 21st-ranked QB in the 2022 class
Angeli gives the Orange an experienced quarterback and he’ll immediately join the competition with LSU transfer Rickie Collins, who was named starter by Fran Brown during the spring. We’ll have to see if Angeli’s addition leads to another quarterback departure.
