Highest rated commit since Johnnie Morant
Fran Brown saved the biggest explosion for tonight when the Syracuse Orange landed 5-star WR Calvin Russell out of Miami’s Northwestern HS.
Russell committed to Syracuse over Michigan, Florida State and Oregon and he’s the highest-ranked recruit since Johnnie Morant. The 6’5” Russell is ranked 4th best WR in the 2026 class by On3 and is a consensus top-50 player in the class.
This is a huge get for the Orange and part of the appeal is that Russell wants to play basketball in college as well so we count this as Adrian Autry’s first 2026 commit as well.
We’ll have more on this commitment next week, but it’s fair to say that the Syracuse staff has a strong relationship with Teddy Bridgewater’s program and that could keep paying big dividends.
