The Syracuse Orange lost one 2026 commitment but quickly picked up another one yesterday.
While California corner Jaxson Gates announced he was decommitting (expected to land at BYU), Camden, NJ DB Ibn Muhammad committed to the Orange’s 2026 class. Muhammad is ranked a 3-star by 247 and is a top-40 player in New Jersey in the class.
The 5’11” defensive back/wide receiver had offers from Temple, Old Dominion, Akron and others, but the connection with Fran Brown is what he told 247 sealed his decision.
“Cuse feels like home. It’s family all around and I’m big on relationships. I look forward to building those strong and long lasting relationships with every coach, I’m ready to join the Orange. I also like how coach Fran changed the whole atmosphere and made it even better than it was before. Put all his hard work and dedication into the university, players and everything he said he was going to do.”
Here’s a look at Muhmmad’s highlights from last season:
Syracuse currently has 24 commitments in the 2026 class, a group ranked 24th by 247.
