The Syracuse Orange offensive line will need to replace another starter in 2025. Yesterday, Syracuse graduate student Mark Petry announced that a torn ACL would end his Orange career.

With a possibility of a pro career ahead of him, it makes sense for Petry to get the ACL repaired to give him a chance to work out before the 2026 NFL Draft. Petry had been granted an extra year of eligibility as he had played one season at Ellsworth CC in Iowa before transferring to Syracuse. After making 24 starts at tackle and guard over the last two seasons, Petry had been working at center this spring.
His injury along with the transfer of Codie Hornsby leaves a question at that spot heading into the summer. Louisville transfer Austin Collins made one start at center for the Cardinals back in 2020, so it’s likely he’s a top option. This situation is definitely something we’ll be watching for when camp begins.
