Orange lose a promising prospect
After a weekend of good news, the Syracuse Orange football program will lose one of last year’s talented freshman.
Yesterday news broke that KingJoseph Edwards was taking advantage of a special portal period for “Designated Student Athletes” as part of the House Settlement.
BREAKING: Syracuse EDGE KingJoseph Edwards plans to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells @on3sports
The 6’4 240 EDGE will have 4 years of eligibility remaining
Played in 5 games in 2024 to preserve his redshirt, totaling 5 Tackles, 3 Sacks, & 1 QB hurry https://t.co/qIykUKA1Sw pic.twitter.com/Jv20BtTogB

Edwards was a 4-star recruit and 2nd-highest rated recruit in last year’s Syracuse class. He missed time due to a team suspension, but flashed his potential with three sacks against Holy Cross. Edwards was very active in the community from his arrival in January 2024 and will now take his potential to another school this Fall.
Under this special transfer window, each school was allowed to submit a list of Designated Student Athletes who could be allowed to enter the portal for the next month. DSA’s are defined as athletes who were counted as part of last season’s rosters and would be impacted by the new roster limits for 2025-26.
Let’s be clear, It was my decision https://t.co/5eACFqDIKi

We’ll have to see if other Orange players will join him.
