The Alabama transfer’s playing career is unfortunately over
Unfortunate news came out of Syracuse Orange football training camp today. Fran Brown confirmed that DL Braylen Ingraham had suffered a torn achilles and his Syracuse career is over. His surgery is scheduled for Tuesday.

Brown said that Ingraham will still stay with the team as he works towards his future career goals. Brown also indicated that he would like Ingraham to stay and eventually become a coach for him if possible.
Ingraham was headed into his redshirt senior season and second year overall with the Orange. He transferred from Alabama, where he dealt with medical problems as well. Ingraham medically retired from the Crimson Tide after suffering a torn ACL and lateral meniscus. Ingraham appeared in all 13 games for the Orange last season primarily as a rotation player at defensive tackle, logging 16 tackles, three TFLs, and 0.5 sacks.
Syracuse needs depth at defensive tackle more than ever right now, especially with the Orange seemingly switching to a 4-2-5 defense. The Syracuse roster page doesn’t differentiate between defensive ends and defensive tackles, so it’s hard to tell who will have to step up in Ingraham’s absence. We’ll know more when the week one two-deep comes out for the first game against Ohio.
