Fran grabs another recruit in New York State
The 2025 Syracuse Orange recruiting class continues to grow as another in-state prospect announced he plans to stay close to home. This time it’s Rochester native Amari Colon who wasted no time in accepting Fran Brown’s offer:
First I want to say that I’m extremely blessed & after a great conversation with coach @FranBrownCuse I am blessed to recieve a scholarship and Commit to Syracuse university, AGTG! @CuseFootball @AlexKellyCuse @CTC4CHANGE @GregCTC585 @RoeFootball_ pic.twitter.com/NuDlvUk39b

Colon, a 6’1”, 180 lbs. athlete at James Monroe high school, received his first D1 FBS offer from SU on Tuesday. Prior to that, he had three FCS offers: Eastern Illinois, Central Connecticut, and Maine.
Colon has played several positions, spending time at both running back and wide receiver, but he will go to Syracuse as a safety. He’ll spend this fall at Trinity-Pawling Prep school after reclassifying to the Class of 2025.
The major recruiting sites have not rated Amari, but we’ll see if he earns his stars in the extra year of high school. He said the sudden interest from Coach Fran has him very excited to play at SU.
“I had literally talked to him for three days, and after that he offered me a full ride,” Colon told 247’s Mike McAllister. “It was shocking at first because of how confident he was in me and how fast it all happened.”
Colon’s Twitter bio says his 40-yard time is 4.43 seconds – judging by these highlights, he’s got speed as advertised:
The Orange now have 19 verbal commits from the Class of 2025.
