Syracuse football: 2025 Spring Game announced… with a twist

The event won’t be held in the Dome this year

Last spring, Fran Brown’s highly-anticipated team packed the lower level of the JMA Dome for the Syracuse Orange Spring Game. This time, a much younger football group is taking the opposite approach, opting for a more intimate experience on SU’s South Campus.

The Orange will hold the Spring Game on Saturday, April 12th at the SU Soccer Stadium, which officially has a seating capacity of 1,500. The nearby Colvin Lot will be open for Tailgating beginning at 10:30 A.M., with Coach Fran and his players arriving at 1:30, and the game itself will take place at 3. Fans will also be able to see the progress on the new Football wing of the Lally Complex, which should be completed in the next few months.

The announcement comes shortly after Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule decided to cancel the program’s spring game over tampering concerns. Boston College, Ohio State, Texas, West Virginia, and others followed suit. NC State’s Dave Doeren took it a step further and closed off spring practices entirely, even to the press.

Fran did not follow suit.

Syracuse will indeed have a Spring football game. Fran Brown says he is not worried about tampering, he loves his guys and they love him.

The 2025 team is drastically different than the Top-25 squad from last fall. Gone are Kyle McCord, Oronde Gadsden, LeQuint Allen and more, and in their place are a lot of underclassmen with something to prove.

The main attraction is likely to be an ongoing QB battle between returning redshirt freshman Jakhari Williams, LSU transfer Rickie Collins Jr., and four-time Texas state champion Luke Carney.

No word yet from SU on how to claim tickets to the event. It should be free to the public, but especially with the reduced capacity, you may have to claim a ticket ahead of time with the Cuse app.
