The 2015 Syracuse Orange field hockey squad became the first women’s team to win a NCAA Championship. For the All-21st Century Team for field hockey, we are going to feature a punishing offensive attack and send out a line-up that will
Goalie:
Audrey Latsko: two-time All-American. 2002 Big East Goalkeeper of the Year. Latsko is in the top-five in school history in saves (2nd), save % (5th), shutouts (3rd) and goals against average (3rd).
Defense:
Eefke van den Nieuwenhof: four–time All-American honoree. Finished with 38 career goals and 89 points. 2023 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and twice named to All-ACC First Team.
Laura Hahnefeldt: three-time All-American honoree. First-team All-Big East in 2012. Named to All-ACC 2nd team in 2013 and All-Big East 2nd team in 2010.
Roos Weers: three-time All-American honoree. Scored 44 career goals and had 110 points which are both tied for 6th on the all-time list. ACC Rookie of the Year in 2015. Three-time All-ACC 1st team selection.
Midfield:
Alyssa Manley: 2015 Honda Sports Award for top NCAA player. Three-time All-American. 2015 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. 2014 and 2015 NCAA All-Tournament Team. 2016 US Olympian. Alyssa will have her jersey retired this Fall.
Shannon Taylor: only played one season for Syracuse after transferring from Richmond, but was 1st-Team All-American, 1st-Team All-Big East, and Big East Tournament MOP. Named to NCAA All-Tournament Team. Hold Syracuse record for points in a season with 79. Member of 2012 US Olympic Team.
Martina Loncarica: three-time All-American. All-time leader in assists with 65 and 2nd on the all-time points list with 139 points
Forward:
Emma Russell: Syracuse’s all-time leading scorer with 57 goals and 140 points. Two-time All-American and three-time All-ACC selection.
Maggie Befort: Fourth on the all-time points list with 120 points. First-team All-Big East in 2009.
Charlotte de Vries: four-time All-American honoree. Second on the all-time goals list with 49 and third on the all-time points list with 123 points
Lindsay Conrad: four-time All-American honoree. Third on the all-time goals list with 47 and fifth on the all-time points list with 112
