Two of college basketball’s East Coast traditional powers square off from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. The Syracuse Orange travel to face the Georgetown Hoyas. It’s been a disappointing start to the season for both programs, but that doesn’t take away from this massive former Big East rivalry.
Jim Boeheim’s squad is an underwhelming 5-4 this season. The Orange’s four losses have come against some of the only formidable opponents they’ve faced this season (Virginia, Oklahoma State, Penn State and Iowa). But they did just notch a victory over Georgia Tech.
Perhaps Boeheim will use that momentum to try and take down the Georgetown on Saturday.
The Hoyas are a tough out this season as usual. They’re 6-3 this year with notable wins over Texas, Oklahoma State and SMU. The Hoyas suffered a tough defeat to Duke in late November, but it was just a eight point loss.
Georgetown is certainly capable of playing with the best. Syracuse will have to be up to the challenge on Saturday.
