SU wins 3 events at Eagle, David Hemery Valentine Invitationals

This weekend, Syracuse competed in the Eagle Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, both in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Eagle Invitational started with the men’s 60 meter hurdle finals. Emanuel Joseph came in first with a time of 7.91. Next to finish was Isaiah Hayes who finished fourth in 8.12.

In the 60 meter womens hurdles, Peyton Rollins made the final and placed fourth with a time of 8.61.

The men’s 60 meter dash resulted in another victory for Syracuse. This time, it was Trei Thorogood who took the victory in 6.72 seconds.

Two Orange qualified for the finals of the women’s 60 meter dash. Olivia Garner finished sixth , crossing the line in 7.64. In the women’s 400 meter, Madison Ceasar led SU with a 21st-place finish and a time of 59.5. Shayla Ford was right behind finishing in 22nd.

Elijah Mallard was the only Syracuse runner to participate in the men’s 400m dash, finishing on the podium with a time of 47.76. Three women competed in the 3,000 meter dash for the Orange. Caroline Kirby led Syracuse with a 23rd-place position with a time of 9:58. Lauren Augustyn also finished 26th in 10:05.

Trei Thorogood then won his second event of the day, this time in the 200 meter dash with a time of 20.94. Elijah Mallard’s time of 21.60 was good enough for fifth as well.

The Women’s 200 meter dash closed the event for the Orange with Kitana Burgard’s time of 24.45 giving her third place. Peyton Rollins followed in seventh.

At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, the story of this meet was in the men’s mile. Benne Anderson set a school record time of 3:54, placing fourth. Five other Syracuse runners finished in the next 18 seconds after Anderson.

Julian Franjieh then competed in the men’s 3k, finishing with a time of 8:12. In the 5k, Sam Lawler finished 21st place in 13:35.53. Assaf Harari also placed 44th with a time of 13:45 and Connor Ackley ended in 46th in 13:45.

In the women’s mile, Selma Anderson finished in 50th with a time of 4:43, capping a two-day stretch where the Orange captured three first-place finishes.
