SU sets 9 PRs at Bob Pollock Invitational, John Thomas Terrier Classic

Syracuse track and field competed in the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson and the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston this weekend. The Orange recorded nine personal best times over the two meets.

At the Bob Pollock Invitational, Taleea Buxton and Peyton Rollins advanced to the semifinals of the women’s 60-meter hurdles after finishing 12th and 17th in the preliminary rounds. However, neither progressed to the finals, with Rollins clocking in at 8.72 seconds and Buxton finishing in 8.74.

In the men’s 60-meter dash, Trei Thorogood advanced to the semifinals with a time of 6.75 seconds. He improved his time by one-tenth of a second in the semifinals, securing a spot in the finals, where he placed fifth with a time of 6.73 seconds.

In the men’s 400-meter finals, Elijah Mallard was Syracuse’s lone runner, finishing fifth in 47.64 seconds.

On Saturday, Rollins posted a personal-best 24.89 seconds in the women’s 200-meter finals, placing 31st. On the men’s side, Thorogood finished seventh, crossing the line in 21.09 seconds. Mallard also placed 18th in the event with a time of 21.54 seconds.

At the John Thomas Terrier Classic, Selma Anderson led the way for the Orange, running a 4:44 mile to place 33rd of over 200 participants.

In the women’s 3000-meter run, Syracuse had two top-30 finishers — Savannah Roark placed 25th with a time of 9:13 and Emma Eastman finished 28th in 9:15. Madeline Heintz placed 48th (9:36), Nyah Hernandez finished 64th (9:45) and Bethany Steiner took 91st (9:56), while four other runners finished within the top 110.

In the men’s mile, Syracuse had nine entries. Benne Anderson led the group with a personal-best time of 3:56, finishing 18th. Ben Gabelman ran a 4:01 mile for 34th place, followed by Sam Lawler in 45th (4:02). Three other SU runners finished inside the top 100 of 300 competitors.

Then, six Orange runners competed in the men’s 3000-meter run. Three of the bunch finished in the top 60. Assaf Harari paced SU with a time of 7:58, finishing 31st. Connor Ackley followed with a time of 8:02, while Sam Ricchiuti placed 59th in 8:11.
