Syracuse small forward Elijah Hughes is entering the 2020 NBA Draft, he announced this evening on Twitter.
Hughes enjoyed a standout season for the Orange, earning first-team All-ACC recognition. He averaged 19.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line.
In Hughes’ final game with ‘Cuse, he scored 27 points and grabbed seven boards in a blowout win over North Carolina in the ACC Tournament. That was also the final major conference college basketball game played before the coronavirus canceled the rest of the season.
Overall, Hughes topped 20 points in 15 games this season and crossed 30 points once, scoring 33 in a blowout win over Georgia Tech.
“The love is real. It’s genuine. Thank u Syracuse,” Hughes wrote in his Twitter announcement.

As someone who isn’t a lock to be picked high in the first round, Hughes is the type of player who could benefit from pre-draft workouts and combines. However, all of that is in the balance now.
The 2020 NBA Draft is currently scheduled for June 25 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. We’ll see if any adjustments are made depending on the coronavirus pandemic.
