ESPN’s Joe Lunardi isn’t the only bracketologist churning out 68-team fields through the off-season. Andy Katz, who now works for the NCAA, just turned in his latest bracketology projections.
Katz nailed 67 of 68 teams last season in his final Selection Sunday bracket. Per the write-up, Katz is weighing in all of the events of this college hoops off-season.
At the top of his bracket are four college hoops powers as No. 1 seeds: Michigan State, Kansas, Kentucky, and Louisville.
Here are the full top four seed lines in Katz’s new bracketology:
Midwest Region:
- Michigan State
- Texas Tech
- Virginia
- Villanova
West Region:
- Louisville
- Maryland
- Memphis
- Gonzaga
South Region:
- Kansas
- Florida
- North Carolina
- Xavier
East Region:
- Kentucky
- Seton Hall
- Duke
- Purdue
Among the potential Sweet 16 matchups here include a powerhouse showdown between Louisville and Gonzaga, and a rematch of last year’s national championship game between Virginia and Texas Tech, which I would certainly welcome.
Some other notable inclusions in the 68-team bracketology tware: Ohio State (5-seed), Oregon (6), Auburn (6), Wisconsin (8), LSU (9), Arizona (9), Michigan (11), and Notre Dame (12).
Katz has some major programs on the outside looking in as well.
BYU, USF, Creighton, and Syracuse are his “First Four Out.” The next group is Iowa, Oklahoma, TCU, and Wichita State, while Clemson, Texas, Alabama, Dayton, and UConn are among the last schools in consideration at all.
