Once again, Cornell comes through to represent Central New York
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Jackson Kennedy
Position: Kicker
Year: Redshirt Senior
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 179 lbs.
Hometown: Aldie, Va.
High School/Previous College: John Champe/Cornell
2024 stats: Became the team’s primary kicker in November, making 8-11 field goals. His longest make of the year was 44 yards, and his most in a game were four against Cal.
2025 projections: From what we understand, Kennedy needs a waiver to be eligible for the 2025 season. He was on Syracuse’s spring roster this year, so the Orange must feel confident that he’ll get his waiver. If Kennedy is eligible to play in 2025, all signs point to him in the driver’s seat for the starting kicking job.
How’d he get here?: Kennedy transferred to Syracuse for the 2024 season from Cornell, where he was an All-Ivy League second team selection in 2023. He seemingly committed to Syracuse as a preferred walk-on.
What’d recruiting sites say?: No rankings from the major recruiting sites or from Kohl’s Kicking.
Winners Get Washed: Method Mindful Matcha – Jackson’s Ivy League education certainly means he has a sharp brain.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Kennedy was a prolific athlete on his high school track and field team. He qualified for the state meets in six events – the 55 meters, 55 meter hurdles, 4×100 and 4×400 meter relays, the long jump and triple jump.
