A big newcomer on the defensive line
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Eric Thomas
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Freshmen
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 335 lbs.
Hometown: Miami, FL
High School: Miami Northwestern
2024 stats:
Thomas only appeared in two games last season, but in 2023 at East Lee County he recorded 35 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble.
2024 projections:
Thomas adds a lot of size to the defensive line, but it’s unlikely he’ll crack the two-deep to start the season. We’ll be curious to watch his growth throughout the season because he could be the next three-star to emerge as a big contributor for the Orange.
How’d he get here?:
Chose the Orange over South Carolina and Marshall. Also had offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Ole Miss.
What’d recruiting sites say?:
Three stars from each site. ESPN had Thomas ranked 85th in the country among defensive lineman.
Winners Get Washed:
CO Bigelow- Lime and Coriander body cleanser seems fitting for this Floridian to remember the warm ocean breeze.

Interesting nugget o’interest:
Played his senior year of high school for ACC Legend Teddy Bridgewater. Will be joined at Syracuse by his older brother Chris.
