Proof that Upstate New York football players can impact the Orange football program
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Rashard Perry
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Junior
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 291 lbs.
Hometown: Buffalo, NY
High School/Previous College: Bennett
2024 stats: Played 11 games last year, making four starts. A mainstay in the defensive line rotation, he made 17 tackles, three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
2025 projections: If all goes well for Perry, he has a chance to be a starter at defensive tackle. At the very least, he’ll be a consistent rotation player for Elijah Robinson, who loves to hockey change his defensive line when he gets the chance. Perry will see the field a good amount once again.
How’d he get here?: Perry only officially announced one other DI offer from Temple, but recruiting sites say Buffalo and UConn offered the Western New York native.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars all around. On3, 247sports and Rivals had Perry as a top-10 recruit in New York.
Winners Get Washed: Duke Cannon THICK Buffalo Trace Body Wash – Not quite the same Buffalo we’re all thinking, but close enough.

Interesting nugget o’interest: While at Bennett High School, Perry helped his football team make back-to-back state football championship game appearances in 2021 and 2022. They fell short in ‘21, but won it all in ‘22. Funnily enough, Perry and Bennett High School defeated Cicero-North Syracuse High School in the semifinals during both seasons.
Let’s get a look at ya: Perry’s best game of the season came against Virginia Tech, where he had four tackles, one tackle for loss and a 0.5 sack.
