An athletic tight end with plenty of potential.
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Elijah Washington-Baker
Position: Tight end
Year: Redshirt Freshman
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 230 lbs.
Hometown: Norfolk, VA
High School/Previous College: Lake Taylor High School
2024 stats: Made appearances in five games (including the Holiday Bowl), primarily on the kickoff unit (two tackles). Did preserve his redshirt.
2025 projections: With the departure of Oronde Gadsden, there will certainly be plenty of opportunities at the tight end spot. There’s varying options available for coach Fran Brown. Washington-Baker will likely be battling against senior Dan Villari and four-star tight end Jamie Trimble. There’s ample chances for him to get some reps on the offense, and his size also makes him a pretty fascinating target especially in two tight end sets. The ultimate question is how much bigger that role will be in 2025.
How’d he get here?: Committed to the Orange over offers from West Virginia, Virginia, East Carolina, Florida Memorial, Marshall, Old Dominion and Temple.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three-star on 247Sports, On3 and ESPN. On3 ranked Washington-Baker as 14th-best prospect from Virginia. ESPN ranked him as a top-40 tight end prospect in 2024.
Winners Get Washed: Dr. Squatch Pine Tar — hard to not pick Dr. Squatch here considering Washington-Baker boasts mythical size for a tight end and most definitely wants to smell like a champion.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Washington-Baker did more than just dominate the field in high school. He also succeeded on the court and diamond, playing in both basketball and baseball. Washington-Baker earned a first-team All-State selection and was a total force in the paint.
