A receiver on the rise in 2025
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.

Name: Darrell Gill Jr.
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Junior
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 173 lbs.
Hometown: Atascocita, Texas
High School: Atascocita
2024 stats: Gill put together an excellent sophomore season, hauling in 31 receptions for 570 yards and two touchdowns. Also added three rushes for six yards. Finished fourth on the Orange in receiving yards.
2025 projections: The sky is the limit for Gill in his third season, and he could very well establish himself as SU’s top receiving option. He should see a massive uptick in targets following the departure of Jackson Meeks, Trebor Pena and Oronde Gadsden II.
How’d he get here?: Chose the Orange over offers from Washington State and South Dakota State.
