A player who might see more time in his 1st season
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Darius Johnson
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Freshman
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 160 lbs.
Hometown: Carol City, FL
High School: Miami Northwestern
2024 stats:
Named All-Dade County last season when he had 40 receptions for 785 yards and 9 touchdowns.
2025 projections:
Johnson got an early jump on other receivers in the incoming class by getting to Syracuse in spring. He showed off his speed and was a player the coaching staff highlighted. With the departure of Trebor Pena, Johnson could enter August with the inside track on punt return duties.
How’d he get here?:
Chose the Orange after originally committing to Troy. Johnson had a host of offers which included Auburn, Arkansas and SMU.
What’d recruiting sites say?:
Three stars all around. On3 and ESPN had Johnson as a top 250 player in Florida
Winners Get Washed:
Dwell 212 Citrus Body Wash – a dynamic playmaker deserves a body wash described as “an energized vibe of freshly grated citrus zest, fresh squeezed citrus, candied citrus.”
Interesting nugget o’interest:
Johnson is one of three players from Teddy Bridgewater’s Northwestern squad joining the Orange’s 2025 class.
