We’ll tell you how he became the prince long-snapper of Bel Air
It’s time to start preparing for the 2024 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces to kick off the Fran Brown Era
Up next is….
Name: Ethan Stangle
Position: Long Snapper
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 214 lbs
Hometown: Bel Air, MD
High School: The John Carroll School
2023 stats: Stangle didn’t play in any games last season.
2024 projections: With starter Tom Callahan back for his seventh year of college (IYKYK), it might be tough for Ethan to take the job, but everything is more open under the new coaching staff. We’ll keep an eye on this battle in August.
How’d he get here?: Stangle ultimately chose to accept a preferred walk-on opportunity with Syracuse over Charlotte.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Kohl’s Kicking Camp rated him 13th in the country at his position while Rubio Long Snapping had him 47th.
Money quote: Back in high school, Ethan impressed the coaches at the Kohl’s Camp who had this to say about him
Stangle put on a clinic during the Kohl’s Midwest Showcase. He not only snaps the ball with power, he has consistent location and rotation. Stangle finished the day with an average snap time of .66 seconds and the highest charting score in the country for the 2022 class. He is everything a coach is looking for in their snapper and will be a huge commitment for Syracuse. Stangle is a snapper that has the ability to play this position for a very long time.
