The Texan looks to make his mark up north

It’s time to start preparing for the 2024 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces to kick off the Fran Brown Era.

Next up is…

Name: Codie Hornsby

Position: Offensive Line

Year: Redshirt Junior

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 322 lbs

Hometown: Dallas, Texas

High School: Skyline

Previous Colleges: Delaware State/Grambling State

2023 stats: 11 starts on the offensive line for a Tigers team that scored just over 28 points per game.

2024 projections: Now on his third collegiate team in four seasons, Hornsby is likely a backup interior lineman for the Orange. His massive frame should allow for playing time as an injury replacement.

How’d he get here?: Announced his transfer to Syracuse in March 2024.

What’d recruiting sites say?: No ratings coming out of high school. Consensus three-star recruit in the transfer portal.

Interesting nugget: Despite having already graduated from college, Hornsby brings two more years of eligibility to SU. COVID canceled his initial freshman season at DSU, and the lineman didn’t see the field in year two.
