Will the experience translate into a career year?
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Umari Hatcher
Position: Wide receiver
Year: Redshirt Senior
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 186 lbs.
Hometown: Woodbridge, VA
High School/Previous College: Freedom High School
2024 stats: Appeared in 11 games, starting in six of them (missed the last two games of the year with injury). Caught 17 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns.
2025 projections: Hatcher certainly brings plenty of experience to the table, having appeared in 36 games and starting almost half of those. What comes next in 2025 is certainly a fascinating question. In 2023, he was Syracuse’s second-leading receiver with 482 yards. Last year, he took a step back with Trebor Pena returning and new additions taking up a larger role. Hatcher is likely a day-one starter considering all the departures, but can he take that massive leap to end his ‘Cuse tenure?
How’d he get here?: Committed to the Orange in September 2020 over offers from North Carolina, Michigan State, Maryland, Penn State, Virginia, West Virginia and several other schools.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three-star on 247Sports, ESPN and On3.
Winners Get Washed: Dove — fly by defenders and smell good while doing it.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Four Woodbridge, Virginia natives found their way in the NFL — RB Russell Davis, DB Tony Lilly, OL Matt Lehr and DE Da’Shawn Hand.
