Get to know your favorite Rhino!

Name: Chris Elmore

Position: Fullback

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 283 lbs.

Class: Senior

Hometown: Chicago, Ill.

High School: Phillips Academy

2020 stats: The punchline/single sentence explanation for the Syracuse Orange’s 2020 season was summed up with “our fullback is playing offensive guard,” and that was all on Elmore. However, in what was also a great summation of the season, Elmore was arguably the most consistent and best offensive player the Orange had. The fullback was utilized almost exclusively on the line until the end of the season when health allowed him to go back to fullback.

2021 projections: The Rhino is ready to rock the backfield once again, penned in to be the starting fullback for the Orange. There’s a great opportunity to utilize him as a pocket protector considering starting running back Sean Tucker’s less than stellar ability in that department, but there’s also plenty of opportunities to roll him out wide as a tight end or block edge rushers at the line. Elmore will be mostly used as a lead blocker for the aforementioned Tucker as Dino Babers wants to reemphasize the running game.

How’d he get here?: Originally a Western Michigan commit, Elmore flipped to the Orange when Babers reached out and gave him a shot on offense. The rest of the MAC schools also offered.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Lots of stars, specifically, three of them.

Money quote: Dino Babers did not mince words on the importance of Elmore to the team in 2020.

“Chris Elmore is so unselfish, we would not have been able to finish the season without him, there would have been 11 no-contests without Chris, and I can’t thank him enough for the unselfish act he did in keeping us afloat,”

Tweets of wonder: The Rhino is showing off that strength!

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: He’s the unselfish leader of the team, he’s the heart of the locker room, and he can actually play! I’m going Invincible.

Interesting nugget o’interest: His brother Craig played a season under Sean Lewis at Kent State.

Let’s get a look at ya: Here’s hoping Rumble in the Jungle returns for 2021!
