The tank will need to clear enemy lines this Fall
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Dion Wilson Jr.
Position: Defensive Lineman
Year: Redshirt Senior
Height: 6-5
Weight: 305 lbs.
Hometown: Perris, CA
High School: Orange Vista High School
Prev. School: Arizona/New Mexico State
2024 stats: Injuries kept Wilson from being the impact player Syracuse hoped for, but his redshirt allows him back this year. He made 13 tackles in five games last season.
2025 projections: Wilson is going to be counted on to anchor the interior of the defensive line. With a lot of new starters on defense, Wilson’s size and experience is important for the run defense. If he’s able to hold up against opponents on the inside, we could see an improved run defense from the Orange.
How’d he get here?: Spent three seasons at Arizona, then transferred to New Mexico State for one year before joining Syracuse in January. He picked SU over a list of schools that include Texas A&M, Rutgers, Cal Berkeley, Indiana, and Texas Tech, among others.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Considered a consensus three-star prospect across the major recruiting sites.

Winners Get Washed: Cleanse by Tank – if you’re going to clean a Tank, you should use the company named after one
Interesting nugget o’interest: Perris is the home of the Southern California Railway Museum and Southern California Fair
