A player with loads of potential
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: KingJoseph Edwards
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Redshirt Freshman
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 225 lbs.
Hometown: Hoschton, GA
High School/Previous College: Mill Creek
2024 stats: Played four regular season games and Syracuse’s Holiday Bowl game to preserve his redshirt. Totaled five tackles, but made three sacks.
2025 projections: Everything about Edwards’ game screams high potential. If he can stay on Fran Brown’s good side, he should have every opportunity to make an impact. You could argue that Edwards still needs to put on more weight to truly impact the field the way that Brown and Elijah Robinson want him to, but the raw skills seem to be there for a good pass rusher.
How’d he get here?: One of Syracuse’s first high-profile recruits coming out of high school when Fran Brown joined the Orange. Edwards picked Syracuse over Colorado and Florida State.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Four stars by 247sports and ESPN. 247sports and Rivals had Edwards ranked as a top-30 edge rusher in the class.
Winners Get Washed: AXE Excite Body Wash – Since Edwards is the literal embodiment of excitement on the field and online.

Interesting nugget o’interest: We love multi-sport athletes, and Edwards is no exception. He also played basketball and ran track in high school.
Let’s get a look at ya: His highlights from his three-sack game against Holy Cross
