Get to Know Your Orange Man: #32, LB Marlowe Wax

August 8, 2020 by Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Leave a Comment

Connecticut v Syracuse

At the very least, a frontrunner for first-team all-name

Name: Marlowe Wax

Position: Linebacker

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 230 lbs

Hometown: Baltimore, Md.

High School: Mount St. Joseph

2019 stats: Named the 2019 Baltimore Sun All-Metro co-Defensive Player of the Year after a senior season which saw him rack up 111 tackles, 23 TFLs, five sacks, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and three interceptions.

2020 projections: Wax also played running back in high school (and it appeared that’s were we initially recruited him), so given the speed that most running backs possess, he could become a decent candidate for playing time within the four game redshirt rule. He’ll most likely redshirt but look out for him down the line.

How’d he get here?: Curiously, Wax didn’t receive any in-state offers (or rather, AN in-state offer, from Maryland). Syracuse’s main competition came from East Carolina, Kent State, Marshall, Pittsburgh, Temple and Toledo

What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars all around.

Money quote: I mentioned this earlier this week, but it’s important to bring up again. If your family — especially mom — is happy, you’re in a good spot.

“Every time we’ve gone up there, my mom felt super comfortable. My family felt comfortable, I even took my cousins up there. I’ve been there a few times and it’s just so much love, and I feel like it’s going to be great.”

Tweets of wonder: Well, my friend, let’s help you reach that goal.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Perhaps a predictable option here, but “The Karate Kid” has got to be the choice here. Never forget the lessons of “Wax on, Wax off” young grasshoppers.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Wax is another player that Syracuse had some trouble selecting a position for. He was the 89th-ranked running back nationally according to ESPN and holds his high school record for career rushing yards with 3,346.

Let’s get a look at ya: If you are a college recruit and don’t have Hudl highlights, are you a college recruit at all?
