A key piece on Syracuse’s defensive line.
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Chase Simmons
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Redshirt Senior
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 260 lbs.
Hometown: Little River, SC
High School/Previous College: North Myrtle Beach High School
2024 stats: Appeared in 11 games, starting in six of them. Finished the year with 17 total tackles (8 solo, 9 assisted).
2025 projections: Considering Syracuse’s notable departures at defensive line (notably: Fadil Diggs, Maarad Watson and KingJoseph Edwards), it’s likely Simmons will be elevated into a starting role. At the very least, he will be a big part of the defensive line in 2025. He’s played 26 games with the Orange, and now comes the big question of whether the experience and added responsibly can lead to a strong campaign.
How’d he get here?: Committed to the Orange in 2021 over offers from South Carolina, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Fordham, Akron and several other schools. Took a redshirt year in 2021 and played just three games in 2022. Has appeared in 21 games across two years since.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three-star on ESPN, On3 and 247Sports; two-star on Rivals.
Winners Get Washed: Salt & Stone – it’s only right the native of a South Carolina coastal city gets his products straight from the source.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Simmons is part of a notable list of North Myrtle Beach High alum that includes Wheel of Fortune co-host Vanna White and NFL punter Ryan Quigley.
