The next in line for the running backs at Syracuse?
It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Will Nixon
Position: Running Back
Year: Redshirt Senior
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 202 lbs.
Hometown: Waco, TX
High School/Previous College: Midway/Nebraska/Washington
2024 stats: Played in three games early in the season as the primary backup running back before missing the rest of the year due to injury. Rushed 19 times for 76 yards and caught four passes for 44 yards.
2025 projections: Nixon’s performance before his injury warrants enough of a chance at the starting job. He’ll be in a battle with Yasin Willis for RB1 duties. Nixon might have the better pass catching hands but he doesn’t have the power-running style Willis showcases. It should be a good battle in training camp to see who tops the depth chart.
How’d he get here?: Spent two seasons at Nebraska, only playing in one year before playing two seasons at Washington. When Jeff Nixon joined the Orange as offensive coordinator, Will followed suit.
What’d recruiting sites say?: As a transfer, three stars by On3 and 247sports. As a recruit, a consensus three-star prospect and top-100 player in the state.
Winners Get Washed: Black Butterfly Legacy Black Soap Body Wash for Men – It’s not just the name on the back. The running back legacy at Syracuse is a heavy burden to uphold.

Interesting nugget o’interest: It’s gonna be a family party at Syracuse as Will’s sister, Jasmine, has transferred to the Orange women’s soccer team for this season.
Let’s get a look at ya: Hey the intrepid reporter who took this video seems pretty cool. Maybe you should follow him on your favorite social media platform of choice!
