Get to Know Your Orange Man: #22, Josh Hough

August 21, 2021 by Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician Leave a Comment

NCAA Football: North Carolina at Syracuse
Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Syracuse’s potential running back of the future is on campus

Name: Josh Hough

Position: Running Back

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 255 lbs

Hometown: Beaver Falls, Pa.

High School: Beaver Falls

2020 stats: Rushed for 2,048 yards and 29 touchdowns last season. He only carried the ball 124 times. To put that into context, he scored a touchdown on average just over once every four touches. He averaged 16.5 yards per carry.

2021 projections: He’s already turned some heads during summer training camp, let alone during his impressive senior year. Unfortunately, Hough is currently hampered with injury, but when he gets healthy, Hough could find himself in the Jarveon Howard role of the goal line/short yardage back.

How’d he get here?: No surprise that Hough got an offer from Pitt. Buffalo, Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, and Central Michigan offered the running back.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Nothing better than three stars all around.

Money quote: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette named Hough as their player of the year, which shocked the Beaver Falls native. Hough’s hometown is about 40 miles north of the Steel City.

“I’m kind of surprised I got it,” Hough said about the POY. “I don’t think people from Beaver County are used to getting it. You usually see a kid from Pittsburgh getting it.”

Tweets of wonder: Hough clearly went to the Buddy Boeheim school of using NIL for good causes.

Cuse nation ! I wanted to do something special for a great cause . So 50% of the proceeds of big general merch will go to support programs of our military vets.#woundedwarriors https://t.co/nsj6vQItkm pic.twitter.com/wsfJwcWJ3D

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: This is sponsored by the TNIAAM comic wing. Too easy. “Avengers: Infinity War,” stars Josh Brolin as Thanos, and Hough is like the Mad Titan as the guy who will eradicate half the defenders who consider tackling him.

Interesting nugget o’interest: As I mentioned, Hough ran for 2,048 yards last season. He has 4,378 rushing yards in his HS career. That means that Hough only had 2,330 yards before his senior season, just to continue to put his insane senior year in context.

Let’s get a look at ya: Continuing the trend of listening to the Orange coaching staff talk about the freshmen:
