It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 2 of the Fran Brown Era.
Up next is…
Name: Cornell Perry
Position: Defensive Back
Year: Redshirt Junior
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 187 lbs.
Hometown: Brownstown, MI
High School/Previous College: Woodhaven High School
2024 stats: Appeared in 11 games, predominantly on the special teams unit. Finished the year with three tackles, one in each of the games against Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and Washington State.
2025 projections: Perry will certainly be one of the more experienced defensive backs on the roster with Clarence Lewis, Alijah Clark and Jayden Bellamy now not a part of the Orange anymore. That being said, he has played sparingly in coverage. Perry will likely get slightly more time with the defense and *really* play if the injury bug hits, but still maintain his role on special teams.
How’d he get here?: Committed to the Orange in February 2021 over offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan and Toledo. Redshirted all of 2022 due to injury. Since then, he’s appeared in 21 games over the past two years.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Three-star on ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports
Winners Get Washed: NIVEA – has Latin roots to the word “snow” which is perfectly on #BRAND going from Michigan to the 315.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Perry was not just a multi-sport athlete in high school, but he was also team captain for his football, basketball and track & field teams.
